Our Demon athletes will be busy this winter. If you want to get involved with Golden Athletics, you can come to support your fellow Demons on the following sports teams: Boys’ Basketball, Girls’ Basketball, Boys’ Wrestling, and Girls’ Swimming and Diving.
Boys Basketball: Golden boys basketball season began with an away game at Lakewood on December 3rd and then a game against Highlands Ranch the same week on the 5th.
January is also a busy month for the Demons boys basketball team, with nine games from the 10th to the 31st. The team will open up the new year with a game at and against Aurora Central, with a doubleheader alongside the girl’s basketball team. Some highlight games in January will be the games against Evergreen on the 24th and Littleton on the 29th. In February, you can look forward to five spectacular games, starting with D’Evlyn and ending with Standley Lake on the 19th. The second to last game of the season is against our rivals, Wheat Ridge, on the seventh, and Green Mountain Rams, following close behind on the thirteenth.
Girls Basketball: Golden girls basketball began their season on December 3rd against Lakewood, followed up with their game at Palmer on the 6th. The next five games are at home, starting with Smoky Hill and continuing with Prairie View, Skyline, Heritage, and Steamboat Springs. The lady demons season will continue in the new year, traveling to Aurora Central and Pueblo South. Our rivalry game is against Green Mountain on January 15th at home. The rest of January consists of seven games starting at Summit and ending at Conifer. February will open up with D’Evlyn and continue with Wheat Ridge, Dakota Ridge, and Standley Lake. The Girls Basketball program will welcome a new coach this season, Coach Tanner Hobb. Get rowdy and get out to support your Girl’s Basketball team this winter season!
Boys Wrestling: The boys’ wrestling team started on December 5th, opposing Conifer and Rangeview at home. The team will see five more tournaments and invitationals in December. The last two tournaments of the month will be hosted by the University of Northern Colorado, both against many schools. The January season also gets busy, with seven tournaments or duals, two of which will be at home against Arvada and Evergreen.
Girls Swimming: The Golden girls swim team began their season on December 6th and continues on December 11th at a Jefferson Country League Tri-meet with Golden, Littleton, and Ralston Valley. The team will go onto winter break on December 19th, closing the year with the Jeffco League quad-meet, with Littleton hosting Golden, Arvada West, Dakota Ridge, and Littleton. January gets busy for the Women’s Swim Team, with four meets beginning on the 4th, continuing through the tenth and 25th, and ending on the thirtieth, with the Jeffco relays opening the month up on the 4th. February has the CHSAA class 4A State Championship, which the Demons hope to reach but isn’t confirmed. Cheer on your Girl’s swim and dive team this season, and be sure to check MaxPreps to see the schedule and locations of meets and relays.
