Vivinne Hopkins is a student who started attending Golden High School her sophomore year, now starting her junior year. This article will be a comprehensive review of her past, present and future at Golden and beyond it. Hopkins’ past starts when she moved to
Colorado from Alexandria, Virginia. While living in Virginia she volunteered at a history museum from sixth to ninth grade, which is when she moved here. At her volunteer-ship she did peer-mentoring and led girl scouts. In Colorado, she volunteered at the Golden History Museum over the summer along with at CU Boulder as a camp counselor.
This is the foundation of her future humanitarian efforts, which she brought to Golden. Hopkins hopes to make a club where a monthly bake sale would be held, and the profits would go to a local homeless shelter or another charity organization. She is currently in the process of hopefully making this club a reality at Golden. For anyone potentially interested in joining this hypothetical club, the goal would be for it to be very low-effort; meetings bi-weekly, and only one bake sale a month.
Hopkins’s thoughts on the current clubs available at Golden High School are “I feel like there is a very low amount of clubs at this school for how big this school is, but the clubs that are there are really well done, and the people who are in charge of them do care about what they are doing”. She also mentioned attending two meetings of the Girls Global Outreach club, before dropping the club because they took up her lunch. The Baking Club is yet to have a set meeting time; however, to prevent this from happening keep an eye out for a google form at club rush to make your opinion heard on the meeting time for the club and to show interest in it.
Along with potentially creating a club, she participates in Track and Cross Country here at Golden. On sports and sport culture at Golden, she says, “I think that the sports here are good. The communities in some of the sports I’ve heard mixed things about them, but the sports I’m personally in, I think the communities are really great.” Hopkins has taken many AP and other weighted classes here, as the college credit will beneficial because it allows you to graduate early in college so it’s less expensive because you’re taking less classes there. So far, Hopkins is unsure about what field she would like to work in, but she’s certain that she would “want to go college outside of Colorado,”, and will presumably go out of state.
At home, Hopkins lives with only her dad and her mom since she is an only child. She also has two cats and a leopard gecko; all whom she will sadly be leaving behind when she goes out of state for college.
