Lorde is one of the most talented solo performers in the world, and every one of her songs/tracks tells an emotional and deep story that allows the listener to perfectly understand the high of the situation. Pure heroin is the best example of this, and it is one of, if not the most, famous albums Lorde has written. Popular songs in this track include “Royals”, “Ribs”, and “Team”. The album features a series of songs that convey the emotions of being a teenager, with songs talking about young love, running around late
at night, fitting in, and the uneasy feeling of getting old. Throughout each song many moods and thoughts are expressed, revealing the depths to this life. In the song “White Teeth Teens”, Lorde talks about teenagers running around, having fun and causing chaos. She hints at rules and requirements of the group, places where the teens hang out, fights they get into, being in love together, and more. Near the end of the song she tells the listener a secret, that she has never been a White Teeth Teen. “There’s something else that’s in their blood” the lyric states. In this song Lorde showcases the complications of being a teenager and fitting in. A few songs use a fictional setting to place the euphoria of trouble. In the 6th song of the album, “Team”, Lorde sets the scene in a hidden world beyond what most people see in their day-to-day lives, a sort of abandoned, royal place. This represents teenage bonds coming from unglamorous or overlooked places. Every piece of music in this album has many layers, thoughts, and emotions to it, with the album as a whole and each individual song telling a story.
