¨Six the Musical¨ is a staple in feminism represented in musical media by showing the representation of historical figures (the wives of King Henry VIII) and making them more than just some man’s wives; it shows them as actual people. This musical consists of ten songs: “Ex Wives”, “No Way”, “Don´t Lose Your Head”, “Heart of Stone”, “Haus of Holbein”, “Get Down”, “All You Wanna Do”,
“I Don’t Need Your Love”, “Six”, and “Megasix”. Some of these songs are slow ballads, while others are upbeat and catchy to match the mood. The dance routine is also memorable by using choreography that goes along with the lyrics of the songs. For example, their dancing follows along with the singer, like when Catherine of Aragon was angry at one man dictating her life, everyone matches her mood. The same thing happens with Katherine Howard when all of the other girls act out her hardships. In this musical, Catherine of Aragon, Anne of Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard, and Catherine of Parr are arguing over who had the worst life. For example, Anne Boleyn thinks it’s worse to be decapitated, while Jane Seymour thinks passing away from childbirth is worse. However, Catherine of Parr made them realize that, in the end, they were all strong, unique women who don’t need to be remembered by one single man. I hope this story will inspire others to know that they are more than just a title.
